Being a Residential Childcare Worker involves a wide variety of skills and responsibilities. It isn’t always based around the home or office, it’s also about helping young people with social skills and their general mental health and wellbeing. Trips out and social events form an important part of that development and so recently staff from the Oaks accompanied some of our girls to a Bonfire Night Party. Going to the local fireworks display and the funfair was a great way of letting them relax and interact with staff outside of a home based situation. This helps develop rapport and trust, as well as allowing everyone involved to have a good time.
