All our homes offer great care and support to young people with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. However our care extends beyond that to helping young people become more independent in life – preparing them for when they become young adults. This is a complex process but can often involve small things, which to many would seem simplistic, but for some of the young people we support are a large leap forward. Here is a picture of one of our young people working on their independence skills – doing a simple job and earning some money for it. They learn to take responsibility for the job they do and then appreciate the reward or payment in return. We think this young person did a great job cleaning the car, earning extra pocket money in the process.
