The Oaks
Located in a rural setting, on the outskirts of a village community, The Oaks is a lovely home providing comfortable and well-equipped accommodation for up to six girls aged between eight and eighteen.
We provide residential care, education and therapeutic care packages to young people who have been assessed as presenting, emotional, behavioural or educational difficulties.
The ethos of the home encourages personal growth through providing an emotionally supportive environment. We are committed to child development that enables the growth of resilience and resourcefulness capable of being maintained by a young person through to, ideally, their transition to independence.
We work hard to provide a safe environment free from abuse in its many forms and we actively promote respect and dignity for everyone regardless of their race, cultural background or ability.
The house has large communal spaces and attractive gardens that offer a peaceful and nurturing environment for young people, as well as a homely living space that they may have lacked prior to coming to us. Inside the home all bedrooms are individually decorated to suit personal likes and dislikes.
Educational development is an important part of helping to prepare young people for eventual reintegration into the wider community. We create individual education packages for each young person, which both aids the reparative process and offers them the chance to maximise their future life choices. Sitting alongside an educational focus is the availability of a wide choice of activities for each young person; these can be based both in the home and in the wider local community.
To deliver on our aims, and to fulfil the opportunities inherent in every young person we need the help and support of a dedicated staff team. All of them are committed to the home and have undertaken training across many aspects of the care of young people including safeguarding, child protection, behaviour management, first aid, ADHD and Autism, and they all undertake the Diploma Level 3 in caring for children and young people.
Everyone at The Oaks combines a professional approach with compassion and a genuine desire to achieve the very best outcomes for the young people who come to live with us. We want everyone who comes to stay at the home to mature and grow into young adults who are capable of leading fulfilled and independent lives.
