To children alive today, the two world wars can seem a long time ago in history. Yet they may well have family members still alive who experienced the second world war and may have many stories to tell. This week in November is when the nation collectively remembers the fallen from two World Wars, and we make sure that the young people we support understand the significance of the week for many and what it represents of our history. The interest and enthusiasm that our young people show in learning about the sacrifices that were made, is testament to the fact that this week involves enduring emotions of loss and remembrance as well as honouring lives and looking hopefully to the future.
