Remembrance week events are always a poignant time for many people. Sometimes it is difficult to convey that strength of feeling across the generations, but at UCS we want our young people to understand the sacrifices that people made and how it has affected the present.
Even though the events of two World Wars may seem well in the past, unfortunately conflict continues to rage around the world. The peoples of the Middle East and Ukraine will be particularly in the thoughts of many over the next few days. So it is important that our pupils have a sense of how the past is mirrored in the present and what it means for communities and families to remember those who have given their their lives to defend our future.
We hope that they will join in with acts of remembrance as well as looking forward to a more peaceful future.
